WHY USE A STROP?
Stone Sharpening Leaves a Burr
When a knife is sharpened by a sharpening stone it leaves a burr on the edge of the blade.
Stropping Removes the Burr
The act of stropping - or running the blade across a strop - can minimize and even remove the burr completely to give a much sharper edge.
Stropping Maintains An Edge
When a strop is properly used to maintain an edge it will reduce the frequency of needing to sharpen on a stone.
